距離前一代已超過兩年的《邊緣禁地 2》，預計帶來全新角色、技能、環境、敵人、武器與裝備，玩家們將再次前往 Pandora、探索先前未勘查過的區域進行冒險，而這次的主軸將是要前往擊潰惡名昭彰的大魔頭「英俊傑克（Handsome Jack）」與其腐敗的海沛利恩企業（Hyperion Corporation）。
《邊緣禁地 2》還將以分割畫面的方式支援兩人同樂，而多人連線時將具備即時加入 / 跳出的功能，因此無論是喜歡單打獨鬥、或是熱衷於跟好友一同探險的玩家，都可於這款續作中找到不同的遊戲樂趣。
而當 Gearbox Software 總裁 Randy Pitchford 談論到《邊緣禁地 2》時，他表示這是一款充滿熱情的企劃，開發團隊強化、提升了繼承於《邊緣禁地》的各項優點，進而為玩家打造出一個擁有全新體驗的作品。
